Guide
Have it, read it or want to buy it: organize lent and digital books
Set each title's status, separate what you own from what you want to buy, track loans with name and date, and keep print, e-books and audiobooks on the same shelf.
1. Set the status of each title
On the title page, choose the status: Want to read, Reading or Read. What you mark as Want to read shows up in the Desejos section, separate from what is already on your shelf.
2. Separate what you own from what you want to buy
Still on the title page, the Ownership field says whether the title is yours: I own it, Want to buy or I don't own it. The Want to buy group becomes your bookstore list. When the book arrives, open the title page and switch ownership to I own it.
Ownership and status are different things: you may want to read a book you already own, or own a book you have not read yet. Setting both keeps your shelf honest.
3. Keep track of lent books
- On the title page, tap Lend and note who has it and the date it left.
- The Loans section on your Shelf shows everything that is with other people.
- When the book comes back, open the title page and mark Returned.
4. Keep print, e-books and audiobooks together
In My edition, on the title page, choose the format: Print, E-book or Audiobook. That way the same shelf holds the paper book, the digital file and what you listen to.
5. Follow up with the other guides
To build your inventory from scratch, see the book organization guide and, to log what you have already read, the reading diary guide.
